Alongside the Canada Strong Fund, another major initiative is taking shape – and it’s focused squarely on the people who will build this country’s next chapter.

It’s called Team Canada Strong, and its mission is ambitious: recruit, train, and hire 80,000 to 100,000 new Red Seal skilled workers. These aren’t just numbers. These are electricians, carpenters, plumbers, welders, heavy equipment operators – the hands-on experts who build housing, deliver major infrastructure projects, and ensure our defence readiness when it matters most.

For too long, the path into the skilled trades hasn’t been as smooth or as supported as it should be. Team Canada Strong aims to change that end to end. The program will offer:

  • Wraparound support – from initial recruitment all the way through to Red Seal certification

  • A modernised Red Seal program – updated standards and training that reflect today’s job sites and technologies

  • Financial barrier removal – so that training periods don’t come with impossible economic trade-offs

  • Expanded union-training partnerships – leveraging proven programs to deliver at scale

Think of this as a national mission, mobilising talent at speed and at scale. Whether someone is just starting their career, switching paths, or looking to formalise their skills, Team Canada Strong is designed to clear the way.

At FirstCapital Advisers, we see this as a direct and powerful complement to the Canada Strong Fund. One fuels strategic investment; the other supplies the talent to execute. Together, they represent a coordinated push toward a stronger, more capable, and more independent Canada.

We’ll continue to follow these developments closely. For more on how major policy shifts impact cross-border strategy and private wealth, visit our News Hub regularly.
